Nursery Practitioner, Level 3

Salary: Starting from £28,496 - £29,250 per annum (dependent on qualification/s and experience)

Hours: Full time, 40 hours Monday - Friday. Nursery open 8am-5.50pm. You be required to work 4 days in the working week.

Location: St Matthew's Church Hall, The Park, Harwell, Didcot OX11 0HB

The Role:

 We’re seeking a passionate and experienced practitioner who is looking for a change! To support our growing team. This role offers the chance to shape young lives while contributing to a purposeful and values-led early years setting.

What We’re Looking For:

• A Level 3 in Early Years qualification (full and relevant)

• Experience in within a nursery setting Room Leader or practitioner

• Experience or a qualification in Montessori education (desirable)

• Has experience in a Montessori nursery or school

• A clear passion for sustainability and eco practices in early childhood

• Confident safeguarding knowledge

• A strong communicator with children, families, and professionals

• Someone kind, caring and hardworking

• Experience of participating with a regulatory inspection, leading to a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ outcome

Apprentice Nursery Practitioner (Term Time)

 

Salary: £8.14 – £12.21 per hour (depending on age and experience)

Hours: Flexible schedule, Full-time, term time - 40 hours over 4 days per week or 5 days with shorter hours.

Nursery hours: Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:50pm

Location: St Matthew's Harwell, Church Hall, The Park, Harwell, Didcot OX11 0HD

Contract: Fixed-term (18 months), with potential for extension

The Role:

 As an Apprentice Nursery practitioner, you will have the opportunity to gaining hands-on experience in all areas of the nursery as we’re a small setting.

This is coupled with your apprentice training in Early Years. This Apprenticeship will be for a level 2 early years practitioner or level 3 early years educator depending on experience.

 The role is a full-time position (40h working week, 20% of which is spent on learning).

 

You will:

 • Support the delivery of daily care routines, play-based learning and our staff

Nursery Manager Position, Level 3 and Above (mat leave cover)

Salary: Ranging from £38,000 to £42,000 for Manager Role (pro-rata for 6 month period), depending on experience.

Hours: Full time (4 days per week), Nursery Hours from 8am until 5:30pm.

Location: St Matthews Church Hall, The Park, Harwell, Didcot, Ox11 0HB

Contract: Temporary contract (mat leave cover, November 2025 - April 2025 with scope to be hired on into Deputy Manger role on permanent contract

Purpose of post

  • Ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare and safety is promoted

  • Ensure a high standard of physical, personal, emotional, social and intellectual education and care for all children in the nursery

  • Implement high standards of quality practices through supervisions and support for the team members within the nursery

  • Day-to-day management of the nursery, including quality improvement, marketing and administration.

Responsible to: Senior Team (business owner/directors)

 

Main duties

  • Lead the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure and ensure all team members are able to do the same.

  • Keep up-to-date with relevant safeguarding and child protection training and cascade to staff e.g. Prevent Duty, serious case reviews

  • Promote the aims and objectives of the nursery

  • Promote the high standards of the nursery at all times to parents, staff and visitors

  • Ensure the provision of high standards of physical, personal, social and emotional care

  • Lead a team of professional workers and ensure good practice at all times

  • Plan and organise staffing schedules and holiday rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with regulatory body guidelines and nursery procedures

  • Be aware of and act in accordance with current legislation, good practice, nursery policies and procedures

  • Adhere to, and support all team members to understand and follow, the legal requirements of the *Early Years Foundation Stage.

  • Follow and support staff to understand and implement the Early Years Foundation Stage.

  • Follow all relevant Acts including the Equality Act 2010, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (regulation (EU) 2016/ 679) (UK GDPR) that relate to staff employment and record keeping

  • Be responsible for all nursery staff. Supervise and support all members of the nursery team in their day-to-day duties including appraisals and reviews, training and development, individual supervisions and discipline.

  • Ensure all staff have an up-to-date *enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks (England and Wales)

  • Support all team members to work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members

  • Liaise with *Ofsted and other professional bodies associated with the nursery, reporting and updating information as required

  • Oversee the efficient upkeep and maintenance of the building and grounds, stock of equipment, furnishings and fittings

  • Be responsible for all administrative duties associated with the management of the facility, e.g. maintaining records on the children and their families, ordering equipment, maintaining an inventory, keeping personnel records

  • Co-ordinate with appropriate agencies regarding trainee placements and supervise accordingly

  • Co-ordinate and chair, alongside business director, staff meetings as appropriate including agendas and minutes

  • Establish and maintain effective links with other agencies

  • Implement monitoring and recording systems for child development

  • Be responsible for overall health and safety standards within the nursery and ensure staff compliance and awareness, including training where appropriate

  • Maintain procedures for high standards of hygiene and cleanliness

  • Ensure provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history

  • Provide all team members with the support and resources required for the early identification and intervention for children with possible special needs

  • Report back to the Senior Team as required with information relating to quality of provision and other necessary information.

 

Key Skills and Competencies Required:

·       A minimum of Level 3 Early Years Training

·       Montessori training or diploma is preferential

·       Experience as a manager or deputy manager in an Early Years Setting

·       Excellent personal skills and organisational skills

·       Confidence leading a team and ensuring a setting is up to standard for Ofsted requirements
